Kid Shows Chicago-Style

Right: The poster promoting the kickoff of the Museum of Broadcast Communication's "Kid Show" exhibit on April 21, 2001. Featured are artifacts from a wide range of Chicago-produced juvenile shows, including Kukla, Fran & Ollie, Ding Dong School, Super Circus, Romper Room, Here's Geraldine, Elmer the Elephant and Bozo's Circus (which WGN-TV recently put out of its misery).

The quality of these shows ranged (in descending order) from superb to wretched. But one or more of them are bound to bring fond memories to those who grew up in the video era.

(The Musuem of Broadcast Communications is located in the Chicago Cultural Center at Michigan and Washington. The Museum is open Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m and on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Call the Museum at 312-629-6000 for further information)
